Tim’s first venture into competition was at Europa Cup level in 2007 when he gained a very creditable 11th place. Since then, his progress has been good achieving an 11th and a 12th place in Nor Am events in February 2011.
Thanks to two successful summers training on the water ramp at Utah Olympic Park in Park City, USA. Tim has been able to train his first triple somersaults with twists and also qualify several twisting doubles ready to take to snow training and competition this winter. He competed in The Festival of Flight 2011 water rampcompetition where he qualified 6th and placed 8th in the final.
During the summer, Tim’s dry land training includes diving from 3m and 5m boards and some 10m platform as well as trampoline and gymnastics. Tim competes in trampolining and is training as a trampoline coach, he enjoys cycling in his spare time.
When back at home in the UK prior to the ski season, Tim works at Bury Leisure Centre to fund his skiing. His preparation for the start of the winter season includes trampolining twice a week with Bury Trampoline Club and training five times a week at the gym, ensuring his fitness is at the highest level. Training is going well and he can’t wait to get back on the snow.
Tim enjoys being part of the GBR Aerials Squadron and has spent a lot of time at Park City in Utah with plenty of support from the USA national team athletes and coaches. Tim is aiming to perfect his doubles during competition on snow this winter competing at Europa Cup and Nor Am events, whilst expecting to progress to World Cup level once he has perfected his triples.
When it comes to aerials, Tim says “to train alongside the top aerialists in the world is really good experience. I’ve made friends with athletes from many other countries and I’m looking forward to travelling to compete against them in their competitions. After training this summer in the USA I really want to go back and compete in the Nor Am series using this as a stepping stone to future World Cup competitions and the Olympic Games.”
Having the top aerialists in the world training alongside you is really good experience.
Tim would like to thank his sponsors for their support. Please take the time to visit them.
